Dear Andy Barsness,
I have been informed that you are the appropriate person to receive comments concerning theMDT and Knife River project occurring in Bozeman along North 7th Avenue. I am a
Montana native and have lived in Bozeman since 1981, in a neighborhood near North 7thAve.
I am concerned about the plans to remove the mature trees along Peach Street near 7th. Theseare quite healthy specimens, and provide many benefits to the area. They are beautiful,
provide shade to the buildings to the north, and mitigate heat in this warming time. I would bevery strongly opposed to having these removed in order to widen this intersection. I hope that
another option can be chosen. The city of Bozeman has lost too many trees in the past several years to make way for
development. This is a most upsetting situation for many of the residents of Bozeman. I hopethat the State of Montana and Department of Transportation can appreciate the
benefits that healthy urban trees provide and work to aid in their protection.Thank you for considering public comment, and considering alternatives to tree removal at
this site.Sincerely, Mary Bateson
