Honorable Commissioners,
I am urging you to vote no against seeking a loophole to fly the gay pride flag at city hall.
The City of Bozeman flag has a tradition and a meaning. The circle of mountains
represents a community peacefully embracing all people, all genders, all religions, allnon religions, all political views, all people. It's symbolism is timeless.
What does such an action to circumvent state and federal law say about a commissionthat has taken an oath to defend those constitutions? What does it say about your
attitude toward law and order? Is it the message you wish to send? Is it the legacy youwant to leave?
Are you not setting the stage for people to find loopholes around the ordinances YOUwrite and signal to people that Bozeman is not a city that respects law and order?
What kind od inclusiveness raises a flag that represents only a small minority ofBozeman? What about other groups? Would you raise a Christain flag? A Nazi flag? A
Confederate flag? There are innumerable groups who could seek to raise their flag as aunique symbol of their acceptance.
Stick with the lovely, universally symbolic and timeless City of Bozeman flag that thepeople of Bozeman selected years ago.
I urge you to abandon this ill conceived notion brought to you by a fringe element of yourconstituency.I would further add that commissioners Bode and Morrison who have personally,
publically and vigorously promoted this action, recluse themselves from this vote.Respectfully,
Deanna CampbellBozeman,MT
