June 19, 2025 – News, events, grants, loans and other funding opportunities Montana Department of Commerce Weekly Roundup The Weekly Roundup is a summary of events, news and information important to Commerce's constituents this week. Business The Montana State Small Business Credit Initiative 2.0 Loan Participation Program application portal for remaining Tranche Three funds closes at midnight on June 30, 2025. Participating lenders who have funds available for recycling must access those funds prior to applying for the remaining Tranche Three funds. This is expected to be the final round of SSBCI funding. Future opportunities will be supported through recycled SSBCI 2.0 funds as loans are repaid. The Montana State Small Business Credit Initiative 2.0 Loan Participation Program-Recycled Funds application is now open and will remain so for the duration of the program, with capital availability contingent on repayments from existing borrowers. A list of participating lenders with funds for recycling can be found on the SSBCI webpage. Native American Collateral Support Program funding available: The NACS Program is currently accepting applications; $116,763.43 in cash funding is available. The Wood Products Revolving Loan Fund has temporarily paused acceptance of new applications as we move through the administrative rulemaking process. The proposed ARM guidelines were published on May 23, 2025, by the Secretary of State’s Office; a public hearing was held on June 12, 2025. Written comments will be received until June 20, 2025. We’re committed to ensuring the program continues to serve Montana’s wood products industry effectively and will share further updates as they become available. Housing Statewide Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List to Reopen July 1, 2025. Commerce strongly encourages interested low-income persons and households to apply for this federal rental assistance program at commerce.mt.gov. Applicants may only apply to one of the ten regional waiting lists; wait time varies depending on the level of demand at each regional waiting list. Montana Board of Housing Public Meeting: July 14, 2025. Montana Board of Housing Public Meeting: August 11, 2025. Effective June 1, 2025, the following limits have been posted for the HOME, HTF and CDBG programs: HOME Investment Partnership Program rent limits and income limits. National Housing Trust Fund rent limits and income limits. Community Development Block Grant income limits. CDBG-Housing, HOME Investment Partnerships Program and National Housing Trust Fund applications are due September 17, 2025. Commerce will have up to $3,150,000 in CDBG-Housing funds to award; $2,713,000 in HOME and $2,821,000 in HTF. Award decisions will be announced in November. The combined HOME and HTF application guidelines are available on the HOME or HTF web pages. An updated Uniform Application has also been posted. Draft CDBG-Housing Application Guidelines for housing development and rehabilitation will be available for public comment this summer. The newly proposed guidelines are simplified and similar to the HOME and HTF application guidelines. Infrastructure and Planning The Montana Coal Endowment Program will host a grant administration workshop for 2027 Biennium awardees on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 9 a.m., both online and in-person at the Commerce Building, Room 226 at 301 S.
