To Our Esteemed City Leaders: Rezoning application No. 25035 came to my attention last week when I was walking in Gallatin Regional Park, soaking in the beauty and wonder of this precious place. In the nameof quality of life for thousands of us, I urge you to reject the application and protect thequality of this vital recreational space for people who live in northwest Bozeman and thecounty. In northwest Bozeman, there are fewer places than the east side of Bozeman, wherepeople can take a long walk in nature and have a wide variety ofrecreational opportunities. Rezoning would drastically alter the character and opportunities the park affords so many of us, impacting our quality of life, and further dividingpeople in the city by opportunities afforded by our respective locations. Thousands of people enjoy the park, the 360-degree views it offers of mountains, the wildlife, the quiet sounds of nature, and the raucous laughter of children sledding each winter. The opportunity to reflect, have fun, feel a sense of freedom, and gain peace of mind is threatened by the development the rezoning would allow, as it would increase noise, blockviews for people walking and recreating in the park, and increase light pollution. Did you know that in the last three weeks, I saw an osprey fishing, a bald eagle circling, and a heron silently watching for fish? They added to the symphony of wildlife that call thisplace home, like the red-winged blackbirds, swallows, ducks, plovers, and the abundant ground squirrels that bring all sorts of entertainment to dogs and their walkers. I call theground squirrel section "Doggie Disneyland" because the joy is palpable. Development would drive some of these animals away and create more of a caged feeling, that so many of us go to the park to get a break from in our modern world. And that preciousbreak, that long deep breath of relief, is within walking distance for many, many people. Please protect our ability to take that sweet, deep breath of freedom in the park. Please say no to the rezoning application. Respectfully, Kathryn Khumalo 2259 Gallatin Green Blvd, Bozeman
