Dear Members of the Zoning Commission and City Officials, I am writing as a concerned citizen and taxpayer to express my deep opposition to the recentdecision to annex park property. Parks are not just green spaces — they are vital public assets that promote well-being, community connection, and environmental stewardship. They aremeant to be protected for the people, not parceled out for development. This annexation represents a clear departure from the values enshrined in both Bozeman’s andthe State of Montana’s stated policies — values that prioritize public access to nature, conservation of open space, and long-term sustainability. The fact that this measure passedwith a 6–0 vote is nothing short of a slap in the face to the residents of Bozeman who cherish these spaces and expect their leaders to act as guardians of our shared natural heritage. The property in question is not just any piece of land — it is a beloved area where citizens go to recharge, connect with nature, and experience the best of what Bozeman has to offer.Undermining that access for future generations is deeply disappointing and unacceptable. I strongly urge the Zoning Commission and the City of Bozeman to reconsider this decision.Should you choose not to, I assure you that many voters, myself included, will remember this at the ballot box. We will organize, raise awareness, and hold accountable those who prioritizeshort-term gains over the long-term health and happiness of our community. Please do the right thing: protect our parks. Parks are for the people. Sincerely,
