I am writing to urge you to support the funding request from Family Promise of Gallatin Valley (FPVG) for
$120,000 to continue FPGV’s family emergency shelter rooms.
You are well aware that many people in our community do not earn enough or do not have the resources to afford
food, housing, and other basic necessities. Others are an accident, illness, or other unfortunate event away from lost
income and homelessness.
It is important to note that the 2025 Point-in-Time Count documented the highest number of unhoused families in
our county’s history. Adults have a difficult time getting out of the downward spiral of homelessness, children are
helpless and can suffer needlessly because of their family situation. Emergency shelter can provide the opportunity
families need to rebuild their lives and care for their children, giving them all an opportunity to thrive. Family
Promise is able to provide emergency shelter incredibly efficiently. It cost FPGV just $2,816 last fiscal year to
provide emergency shelter for a child.
On behalf of Family Promise of Gallatin Valley I appeal to you to support this funding request as an important step
towards eliminating homelessness in Gallatin Valley.
Thank you for your consideration,
Deborah Peters
