Dear Commissioners, I was one of the Board members of the original Family Promise and I am amazed to see how they have grown. I have worked with families who went through their program and then moved out on their own. My church gives money and supplies regularly to Family Promisebecause we believe so much in their work. I urge your support for their funding request of $120,000 from the City of Bozeman to sustain the operations of their family emergency shelter rooms—a critical servicefor families in crisis in our community. Last fiscal year alone, Family Promise served over 391 families, marking astaggering 1017% increase since 2019. The need is urgent, and growing. Housing costs in Gallatin average monthly rent exceeding $2,300. In contrast, the average family weserve nets only about $2,400 per month—leaving roughly $100 for all other necessities like food, transportation, and utilities. This gap leaves too many parentsand children on the brink—or in the reality—of homelessness. Please consider their request carefully and find the money to support their vital work in this community.
