In the business of art, creating your work is often the easy part. Protecting it can be
more complex: the internet, AI, and access to artists' work all make copyright
infringement easy to commit and difficult to prevent. This free, three-hour session by
attorney Jennifer Webber, JD will introduce artists across disciplines—writers, craft
artists, visual artists, musicians, and makers—to the basics of copyright law.

Artists as Entrepreneurs
Taught by Chris Alveshere and Kelli Sinner
Artists as Artrepreneurs will cover Chris and Kelli’s experiences as co-owners of two
businesses in Missoula; Workroom Montana and Flecks + Specks. They will discuss
the benefits of starting your own business, what has worked for them, along with
lessons they learned along the way. This session will also examine characteristics
that would make you a good business owner, along with the importance of starting
with a complete business plan.

The Business of Community
Taught by Chris Alveshere and Kelli Sinner
The Business of Community will cover how Chris and Kelli cultivate a community
driven business. They will address the importance of a mission, the drive to support
artists and local community members, and their approach to social media. They will
also discuss the realities and challenges that come with being community oriented.

layers of an excellent social media post, develop a strategy to optimize the time you
