You don't often get email from mmscottkos@yahoo.com. Learn why this is important
As a Bozeman resident and taxpayer I am writing in opposition to 5532 Fowler, also known as Rocky
Mountain Flats.
This is absolutely the WRONG area for low income housing. There is no public transporation anywhere
near this location. There are NO shops, grocery stores, convenience stores anywhere near this location.
The closest church (Hope Lutheran) is a mile away. It is not a convenient or close walk to Montana State
University. There are no schools, elementary, intermediate or high school in the vicinity. Therefore,
anyone living in this "affordable housing" will need a vehicle and the proposed parking is absolutely
inadequate. Not to mention, the road infrastructure is this area is grossly inadequate for the number of
units and therefore, cars, that will be the result of this project.
The location is adjacent to Meadow Creek and close to Gran Cielo--both are high-end subdivisions. It's
also adjacent to the not-yet-completed Buffalo Run complex which will NOT be "affordable housing".
Having low income housing will possibily diminish the value of these homes. Rocky Mountain Flats is
NOT compatible with the surrounding neighborhoods.
We understand the need for affordable housing in Bozeman. Why doesn't the City of Bozeman help Blue
Line Development build a complex like this in an area that would be more conducive to low incomefamilies/individuals: An area that would be walkable to necessary services, have proper pubictransportation opportunities, health services, schools, religious institutions and shopping?
Please do not approve this developmet.
