Folks,
As a public comment that I'm cc'ing you all on, I have attached an imagefrom the draft zoning map showing areas (yellow) proposed for R-A in the
vicinity of downtown and MSU. (I haven't found an easy way using the
city's map viewer to filter down to just specific districts.)
These areas shown in yellow are both some of the most walkable and
amenity rich neighborhoods in town, with the best access to the area's
major employment centers. Under the current draft UDC, these areas
would be restricted to the lowest density in our zoning code (whichcoincides with the minimum density allowed under state law). The implied
question here is if we think it is good policy to minimize density in
the city's most walkable and high-opportunity neighborhoods.
