To: Bozeman City Commission, Bozeman Director of Community Development From: Shana Wood Re: Centennial Park Neighborhood UDC Zone Revision Date: 15 May 2025 To Whom it May Concern: I am writing in support of the Centennial Park Neighborhood resident-led proposal to change theproposed UDC zone from R-C to R-A. I heartily support this grassroots proposal both as a resident ofthe Northeast Neighborhood and because it exemplifies local citizen engagement. I live on E Cottonwood Street, across Rouse Avenue to the east of the Centennial Park neighborhoodand I use the park, walk the tree-lined streets, visit the Senior Center and appreciate the amenitiesand character of their welcoming neighborhood. I have read the Centennial Park Neighborhoodproposal and commend the residents’ hard work and diligence in researching, organizing and creatinga citizen-led vision for developing their neighborhood. This action is precisely what the CityCommission and the Planning Department have asked of the Bozeman community during the UDCrevision process. The Centennial Park neighbors use historical context, the character of the existing built and naturalenvironment, socio-economic factors such as affordability, and spatial relationship to adjacentneighborhoods to justify their proposal. They are not opposed to densification or infill and support themaximum density of 2 units plus an ADU currently proposed for R-A zoning. They provide justificationfor their request using past research from the MSU School of Architecture and PhotoVoicesNE, acommunity engagement tool in which I participated. These projects both recommend using small-scale, neighborhood-specific zones to preserve neighborhood integrity while allowing fordevelopment that fits with existing size and scale of neighborhood homes. Please consider and weigh my neighbors’ significant efforts and dedication to the process of citizenengagement. I ask that you grant the Centennial Park Neighborhood request for R-A zoning as part ofthe UDC revision. Sincerely, Shana Wood506 E Cottonwood StreetBozeman, MT 59715
