Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Commissioners, and Community Development Department, I’m writing in support of the Bon Ton residents’ request to designate their section of the historic district as R-A zoning in the Unified Development Code update, rather than theproposed R-C designation. As a Bozeman resident living in a similar neighborhood, I share their concerns aboutpreserving the unique character, walkability, and livability of these historic areas. The R-A designation strikes the right balance—allowing for thoughtful, moderate infill like ADUs andduplexes—without opening the door to large-scale development that could drastically alter the fabric of these established neighborhoods. The Bon Ton neighborhood already contributes to housing diversity with existing multifamily homes that would remain under R-A zoning. This proposal respects Bozeman’s goals forincreasing housing supply while also honoring its commitment to preservation and neighborhood identity. I appreciate the City’s commitment to public input during the UDC update and urge you to adopt the proposed R-A zoning for this part of the Bon Ton Historic District. Kristi Jackson 217 Lindley Pl
