I wanted my email to reach any of the city commissioners. I am not sure if that would be the other email or not. I just wanted to share my honest feedback as a current Gallatin County resident. Thank you, Gladis Lares On Fri, May 9, 2025 at 3:09 PM Alex Newby <anewby@bozeman.net> wrote: Hi Gladis, I assume you meant this as a public comment. Hello, I am a current resident of Bozeman, MT and recently read an article stating that Gallatin County will more than likely reject an ICE proposal to remove illegal immigrants from Bozeman. I wanted to share my feedback if that helps or makes a difference. I am a Mexican American with parents who immigrated from Mexico in the 80's and followed the legal process to become legal citizens of the USA. I respect giving everyone the opportunity to come to the US and get equal opportunities if done so, legally. I have lived in Bozeman, MT since 2020 and have noticed the huge increase of illegal immigrants here. In my current line of work, I deal with people on a daily basis and am surprised at how many of the hispanic demographics here are undocumented. At my current apartment complex, we had two apartments raided because the tenants were affiliated with drugs and/or gangs such as the cartel. Recently, we found that a hispanic male was stealing packages from our complex and have video proof as well. At work, I had one Venezuelan male get upset with me and he told me "you are lucky we are not in Venezuela". Each time I go to Winco, I find a huge crowd of hispanic males outside blasting music with Jalisco flags, I noticed that public parks started gaining graffiti drawings and have seen the increase on the news from drunk drivers, increased thefts and so on. These issues were not so frequent back in 2020 and it is very discouraging to want to stay and raise my children in this town that was once our dream home to raise a family. I do not want to raise my children somewhere that is lenient with crime or in a county that turns the other way when people are entering without being properly vetted to commit crimes. I ask if you can please take my email into consideration for any decisions made and hope that Bozeman can remain the safe and beautiful city it was.
