Dear Bozeman Study Commission,
I went to elementary school here in Bozeman and some of my best memories are biking to the
Museum of the Rockies and then grabbing ice cream at Kagy Korner. This was before myfamily got priced out. As an adult, Bozeman is still a city I love and one I feel blessed to live
in. The outdoor opportunities and small town feel keep me here but, rent prices may drive meout again. Tenants, poor and working class people need to be better represented through the
next city charter.
A stronger mayoral system, increasing the power of an elected official, would put power backinto the hands of Bozemanites, and not into an unelected city manager. Additionally, I would
like to see the commissioners represent the broad diversity of Bozeman, including differentneighborhoods. I would like to see a ward type system, so north side voters can be
represented. As Bozeman grows, so does the need for a more diverse commission. Thenumber of seats should be increased, reflecting the city’s growth.
