Hello Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Commissioners, I'm writing today in full support of the
Centennial Park Neighborhood's Conservation in Action Resident-led Proposal. The work theneighborhood has done to organize and advocate is impressive! I believe their request for
alternate zoning in the UDC update is appropriate for the following reasons: It will protect theexisting variety of housing types. R-A zoning will be more likely to conserve mature trees and
vegetation (appreciating green assets). It will help preserve the Historic homes in the area. R-A zoning will allow for neighborhood friendly infill over time. Naturally Occurring
Affordable Housing or NOAH will be less likely to be redeveloped. And it will preserve theexisting character of the neighborhood which lies within the Neighborhood Conservation
Overlay District or NCOD.
In addition, I support this because I live in Midtown where we just dont have a lot of park
space. With the development of what most of us used to call “the BMX Park” with the N 3rdapartments, open space in the area is seriously limited. Protecting Centennial park’s generous
sky and open feel is worth doing as parkland has become scarce in Midtown.
Thank you
