Dear Mayor Cunningham and Commissioners, We are writing today to respectfully request that the City Commission extend the deadline for the public to host and submit feedback on the UDC Chat Toolkits from April 30 to May 31. As you’re aware, since the toolkits were released on March 21 (significantly later than when the city first said they would be made available), many of Bozeman’s most engaged residentshave been dedicating significant time and energy to the fight for their neighborhoods— especially in light of recent decisions like The Guthrie approval. The level of concern andparticipation you saw at Tuesday’s meeting, among others, speaks volumes. But that kind of civic engagement takes time, and right now, those same community members are stretchedthin. If the City is serious about welcoming public input—especially from those who are mostimpacted by these policies—then it must create space for that input to happen. Keeping the deadline at the end of April effectively shuts out a large portion of the population that caresdeeply but is already overextended. Please do the right thing and move the deadline to May 31. Bozeman deserves a process that isnot only legally sound, but also equitable, inclusive, and respectful of the people who are showing up, doing the work, and trying to make their voices heard. Thank you for your consideration, The Gallatin Valley Sentinel
