Hello City Commissioners, After reading the Landmark Project recommendations I have some
comments:
Historic Preservation Guidelines need to be Standards instead, as in enforceable Standards!!!!Our historic neighborhood need actual protection otherwise, as we have seen recently through
the Guthrie project, they are at the disposal of developers.
I live in the Cooper Park Historic District. This neighbor should be on the register of historicplaces. It is a Department of the Interior designator historic district. It, and other historic
districts in town, should be protected as such. For this to happen, there needs to be actualenforceable standards and specific zoning for the historic district.
Cooper Park historic district should have a height limitation of no more than 2 stories and set
backs appropriate to the neighborhood. There are many historic and significant homes in thisneighborhood. Not only should these be specifically protected, but the neighborhood character
should be protected and there should be very SPECIFIC AND ENFORCEABLESTANDARDS.
Incentives should be in place for restoration.
Historic districts need to be a specific part of the UDC and dealt with as unique and important
elements of Bozeman.
I am happy to answer any questions or discuss further.
Warmly,Danielle Nicholas
