To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing as a concerned member of the Bozeman Christian Reformed Church,
at the corner of N. 5th and Villard. It is the consensus of our congregation that the
Guthrie, as proposed, will have an adverse effect on our church property, as well
as the historic surrounding neighborhood. The issue in particular for us is parking.
To build 91 units, with parking provided for just a fraction of those units, will cause
a real problem in the area, with all of the available on-street parking continually
occupied. Not to mention additional bottlenecks during the winter, with the snow
piling up on the sides of the streets, causing one lane traffic. We anticipate having
to diligently monitor our church parking lot to try to prevent unauthorized
parking. Construction phase would cause a whole new set of problems, with likely
street closures. This project, as proposed, is deeply incompatible with the
surrounding historic neighborhood.
I urge this Commission to uphold the appeal and require that any future
development on this site comply fully with the NCOD Design Guidelines.
Sincerely,
Dan Triemstra
