To the Bozeman City Commission, I’m writing to voice my strong support for The Guthrie apartment project. Bozeman is in real need of more affordable housing options, especially for the people who work here and contribute to our community every single day. Right now, the cost of living in Bozeman is pushing more and more working people out—folks who staff our restaurants, run our hotels, work in our shops, and keep the heart of downtown alive. These are the people who make Bozeman the place we all love, and yet many of them simply can’t afford to live anywhere near where they work. The Guthrie aims to help fix that. The developers have made it clear they want to prioritize long-term, workforce housing—specifically for downtown employees. That’s exactly the kind of intentional development we need more of: housing that actually serves the people who live and work here. Its location makes sense, too. Being walking distance to Main Street and major employers means residents can live without a car or with fewer car trips—saving them money and reducing traffic and parking demand. And from what I’ve seen, the planned rental prices are in line with current downtown housing, only with better accessibility and modern updates. The bottom line is this: we can’t keep Bozeman livable or sustainable if the people who keep it running can’t afford to live here. The Guthrie is a step in the right direction, and I urge the Commission to support it. Thank you for your time and consideration David PerlsteinConnect Property Management Sent from my iPhone
