When will you people start supporting those who live here instead of destroying awesome,
long standing neighborhoods in order to further line the pockets of fat cat out of state
corporate developers and landlords and probably your own as well.
None of your stuff is affordable and everyone knows it. You are terrible for sneaking this past
everyone and not giving a better window for complaint. I bet you're patting each other on the
backs and thinking you're pretty smooth operators.
What about a public hearing before approving your new plans. The old ones were terrible and
you know it. That's why everyone hated them last fall.
The Gutherie is just going to be a dorm that's going to make numerous hazards for the
neighborhood and the kids and employees of Whittier School.
Where do you live?
How would you feel?
I bet you would cry about the parking, ignored NCOD standards, ignored stays of demolition,
congestion, overlooked traffic standards, rich, predatory developers, corruption and
everything else.
Maybe you'd even cry us a river about the UDC unless you thought the neighbors would be ok
with you making things worse next door.
Some of you weren't even elected because the rules for such are so outdated.
I demand that you stop the Gutherie and the destruction of the North Side.
You need to reverse your decision to approve it or move in next door.
Make it into a park and do something right for a change
Sincerely,
Eddie Garcia
Neighborhood resident

Dear Bozeman City Commissioners,
I am writing to express my concerns about the Guthrie project, my support for
the appeal of Application 25033, and to request a reversal of the decision.
After the project was denied last July, the new plans were OK’d without a public
hearing. These plans fail to apply NCOD standards, and the city code requiring
a 2-year stay on demolition after a project is denied has been ignored. Time
and time again, the red carpet is laid out for developer Andy Holleran to do as
he pleases in this city. This is made evident by the insane amount of building
he has already completed around Bozeman’s north side — including the 120-
room luxury hotel and part-time residences currently in the works on East
Lamme Street.
And that brings me to my main concern: The Guthrie is nothing more than
employee housing for Homebase Partners disguised as low-income housing.
You know this, Holleran knows this, and long-time Bozeman residents know
this. He needs more builders for his ongoing projects and housekeepers for his
neverending hotel developments, and this is his self-serving solution. The
Guthrie’s dorm-like accommodations will not be open to just anyone —even if
he claims that it will — the units will undoubtedly be reserved solely for
Homebase employees and selected by them. It’s a self-serving project that is
still receiving low-income housing incentives, all while stripping the
neighborhood of what’s left of it’s historic charm and putting Whittier school
children in harm’s way (city staff ignored glaring failures reported in the traffic
study examining intersections surrounding the project).
When will this man be stopped, or at least properly regulated? Judging by the
barrage of developments that the city has already greenlighted for him and the
millions of dollars he’s made off our city, I’m guessing never.
Please consider supporting the appeal of Application 25033 and stop this self-
serving employee housing project
Sincerely,
Corinne Garcia
