Our new home for the past 18 years is in a historic district. We have lived in Bozeman since
1969 moving into the 1105 South Tracy Ave original house in 1975.
When it was originally built in 1950 at 1105 South Tracy it was within a district named “ PostWWII GI housing, beginning MSU faculty member historic district”.
We asked for permission to rebuild with better insulation and infrastructure in 2007 and were
at first denied by the City. The City did not even want us to allow solar panels.
We wanted the new construction to fit in with the neighborhood of South Tracy Ave. We evenhad a hearing before the City Commission seeking approval. After 1 1/2 years we were able to
rebuild. We met all codes allowed in our historic district.
Why should developers be able to come in and change the very nature of our once historictown and remake our neighborhoods to look like Denver or NYC ?
We are against the development proposed for the former nursing home site as it would
negatively impact the neighborhood.
