Lamme between Tracy and Willson. These trees are all that remain near the “old hospital” and Mountain View Care Center site. These heritage trees are now being threatened by Home Base Partners’ Application 24606—to modify the already approved 21029 North Central Master Site Plan (MSP). The original MSP and Tree Preservation Plan indicated these public tree assets would be saved when this site was redeveloped. In conformance with the Community Design Provisions, “The design and development of all land uses must, to the extent possible, preserve trees.” Any modifications to the plan should include protections for trees, other natural features, and environmental spaces. The city of Bozeman has shown this long sighted vision 100 years before when they planted the trees along Willson Ave. The street is shaded by blocks and blocks of century-old trees that line the street. Please continue to respect this vision for Bozeman. As an ornithology student, I have long watched rare merlin falcons raise families in many of these historic old trees. We lived in south Bozeman for 15 years. During that time we experienced the effects of hotter temperatures during the summer and were struck by how much cooler the south side ofhistoric Bozeman was with its canopy of trees providing shade than many other parts of Bozeman without the tree canopy. I appreciate this opportunity to comment on this issue. Margaret (Peggy) Olliff
