Dear Community Development Director, I am writing to let you know about my concern about the potential loss of the public boulevardtrees along W. Lamme between Tracy and Willson, which are a vital part of the community'slandscape and history. These mature trees, located near the “old hospital” and Mountain ViewCare Center site, are irreplaceable heritage trees that contribute significantly to Bozeman’snatural beauty and environmental health. Currently, these trees are under threat due to Home Base Partners’ Application 24606, whichseeks to modify the already approved 21029 North Central Master Site Plan (MSP). Specifically, the developer is requesting a change to the approved block frontage from mixed-landscaped to mixed-storefront, which would eliminate the building setback and result in the removal of all these mature trees along the boulevard. This proposed change goes directly against the original MSP and Tree Preservation Plan, which specifically indicated that these public tree assets would be preserved as part of the site redevelopment. Allowing the demolition of these trees would not only disregard the City’scommitment to preserving our urban tree canopy but would also contradict Bozeman Municipal Code (BMC) Section 38.230.100, which is designed to protect valuable treeresources. These trees provide critical environmental benefits, enhance the aesthetics of the area, and contribute to the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Removing them wouldbe a loss to the landscape and the community’s connection to its heritage. I urge you to consider the long-term impact of this decision and to take a stand in preserving these heritage trees. Keeping them intact would align with Bozeman’s values of sustainabilityand stewardship of our urban environment. Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter. I trust you will make the right decision for Bozeman's future. Sincerely,Paula Mozen pmozen1@gmail.com406.624.6049
