McGown - Deny Application 24606From:Patty McGown To:Bozeman Public Comment; Erin George Subject:[EXTERNAL]Deny Application 24606 Date:Monday, March 3, 2025 1:38:40 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Dear Erin and the city commission, Patty McGown Jandt Neighborhood Bozeman Homebase is again asking for more than it deserves for application 24606. Homebase is requesting a modification from its application to be able to cut down mature trees and not have any setbacks. Mature trees, provide shade, carbon, sequestration, wildlife, and bird habitat, aesthetics, and a link to our past neighborhood characters for all the residents who love their locations, who have planted trees, and future generations who will live here. The community development director has the authority to approve or deny this modification. I IMPLORE you, which means I am begging you, Erin George,to deny, deny, DENY this modification request it is wrong! Cutting these trees down will be in direct conflict with your (the cities) climate goal to reduce carbon releasing into the atmosphere. Our city committed to integrating climate change considerations into development standards. By denying this modification request, you will be following the commitment that the city made. Homebase has already illegally cut down over 150 trees at the Story Mill Road development. Don’t give in to them and their nonchalance regarding devaluing trees . It takes more than 50 years for trees to get as big as these trees and trees are important and the value of full grown trees, especially to residents, is priceless. Residents value the importance of saving trees, water and habitat. From this moment forward, the design and development of land must dedicate itself to preserve trees. Other infill development projects have successfully protected trees! Erin, residents need you to take a stand and protect trees and show you support residents, too. It is OK to deny this modification request because homebase already has the original approved design. Homebase wants to cut down trees so homebase doesn’t have to have setbacks so they can build Commercial or business rental spaces to make more money. When is enough enough? I beg you to deny this because residence have rights too. We have rights to have trees. Any new development needs to be, well, it must be, sensitive to neighborhood character and identity, landscapes, and historical features! Building designs should not destruct existing vegetation. The emphasis of the planning office must shift to preserving existing landscape, trees, water, and other habitats going forward. Homebase and all other developers demands should, must, not outweigh residents requirements. Thank you for your time. Patty McGown
