I strongly oppose ANY housing policy which permits construction of housing or businesses without sufficient
parking available on site. It is far past time for the City Commission to stand up to uber wealthy developers who
have no intention to actually make “affordable housing” a reality in this city.
On site parking is an absolute necessity for ANY housing units, especially “affordable housing” units. The very
people who desperately need affordable housing almost always must commute to available jobs, often outside the
city in the County. Has any City Commissioner actually visited our “urban camping” enclaves? Many if not most
of those residents have not one, but two vehicles associated with their “camp”.
It is utterly ridiculous to suggest that limited or virtually no parking availability is a reasonable feature of any
housing system in Bozeman. Why do people come to Bozeman? One of the primary attractants are the many
recreational opportunities available nearby, none of which are accessible without a vehicle.
Finally, as is evidenced by our current situation, the absence of regular, immediate snow removal from sidewalks in
this town makes it very difficult to walk here, even if one needs to. Pedestrians in the street in darkness is not a
great safety plan.
Please vote NO on the proposed Affordable Housing policy, which desperately needs more work to actually fit this
city’s needs. Vote to stop wealthy out of state developers from destroying our City.
