Greetings Commission,
Perhaps the City's affordable housing ordinance (AHO) was well intentioned, but its current
and proposed revised implementations still bear all the hallmarks of "big-developer first"mindset. This mindset is destroying the very character of Bozeman that was the foundational
reason I chose to set roots here for myself and family.
The proverbial "little guy" in Bozeman sees his taxes skyrocket as the City fails to "pay asyou go" for police/fire/ambulance/water/infrastructure services. The City even goes so far as
to use tax increment financing (TIF) to further burden taxpayers with big development largelybenefitting outside investors with little long term stake in Bozeman other than the monthly
gathering of rents.
I'm fairly convinced that your misguided policies such as AHO and TIF are merely squeezingout the barely remaining middle. We are the types of folks you might want to keep around,
because many of us actually care about giving a hand up to the lower classes instead of justgiving them a crash pad to survive in while they serve the new Copper-King masters of
Bozeman.
