Dear Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Commissioners,
In order to regain trust from residents, maintain a consistent scope of authority, and a clear, transparent process,
please reclaim your review authority over the second Guthrie application.
Homebase Partner's newest proposal to demolish a historic structure reads more like an amendment to their original
application (which was reviewed by the city last summer), than a new, revised application. I implore you to do the
right thing for your tax paying, voting residents. It is very appropriate that the city commission should again be the
reviewing body for this controversial and life changing (for the worse) development.
Our NCOD design guidelines clearly state on page 10 the following:
"What if I want to demolish, or move, a building on my property?... Generally, if the building has been determined
to be historically significant, final authority for the demolition or movement shall rest with the City Commission."
Thus your authority to reclaim review of the Guthrie. It is the wrong development for this piece of property in the
Mid Town neighborhood.
Please do not abdicate your clear responsibility to our community.
