Dear Bozeman City Commission,
I am writing to you to urge you to reclaim review authority over the Guthrie 2 based on yourinitial review authority over the Guthrie 1.
The removal of healthy, mature trees is in direct opposition with the NCOD design guidelinesand Site Plan Review Criteria in Bozeman's Municipal Code.
Opposing this project's design which does not follow the NCOD guidelines to preserve the
historic spruce or the Site Review Criteria which calls for designing around significantexisting vegetation, is the only appropriate action we expect you to take.
Developers are destroying the very things that make our town a beautiful, healthy place to live
by stripping building sites bare before construction.Mature trees and vegetation are assets thatcannot be replaced, that provide beauty, shade, and water transpiration. They are established
and don't require the massive amounts of water that newly planted landscaping requires.
We need to promote and support architects/developers that include existing vegetation/trees intheir design and that repurpose existing buildings/materials.
Citizens want our local government to preserve trees, and approve designs/development thatfit in with local neighborhoods.
Please act now to reclaim review authority over the Guthrie 2, and enforce the NCOD
guidelines and Municipal code to protect our trees and the character of our neighborhoods.
Sincerely,Wren Kilian
