I agree with Collette Brooks a message to you and stand by her opinions as to what is happening to our city as I have lived here since 1978 and it is a disgrace to see the kind of urbansprawl that is going on in our beautiful community that was once a quiet picture us quaint place to come The traffic is absurd. The people who have moved here are just the rich thepoor are living on the streets and in campers nothing is being done by our city to alleviate this problem and the small steps they have taken are very shortsighted. Please bring a planningcommittee back that knows how to deal with this kind of problem. We are gonna all be sorry for the way things are going and it’s gonna be the city commissioners and the planningdepartment that are to blame. You’re ruining our city just like many cities across the country have been ruined. Look at Boulder. Look at Aspen look at Vail. It’s destroyed and it’s tooexpensive to live at any of those places and it’s becoming that way here stop the growth. Thank you for listening Debra Shope. Please consider doing the same before thisMonday, December 30. Thanks, Collette Begin forwarded message: From: BozemanTreeCoalition <bozemantreecoalition@gmail.com>Subject: Action- Comments for The Guthrie 2, re:trees, due Monday 12/30 5 pmDate: December 28, 2024 at 10:35:54 AM MSTTo: undisclosed-recipients:; Dear BTC subscribers- We hope you are well and enjoying the holiday season. The Guthrie 2, a project in the midtown neighborhood, re-submitted a proposal to the City after its first one was denied. It was recently brought to the BTC's attention that HomeBase plans to remove all the existing vegetation including a large, mature spruce on the property's east side. Removal of healthy, mature trees is in direct opposition with the NCOD design guidelines and Site Plan Review Criteria in Bozeman's Municipal Code. In response, the BTC has submitted a letter opposing the removal of this and other trees and asks for the project to be denied. Our letter is attached below. We are also asking the City Commission to reclaim their review authority over The Guthrie 2 based on their earlier review of The Guthrie 1. If you can find a few minutes in the next couple of days, please read our letter and consider joining us in opposing this project's design which does not follow the NCOD guidelines to preserve the historic spruce or the Site Review Criteria which calls for designing around significant existing vegetation. As a resident of Bozeman, I am asking you to use your authority to oppose this project's design which does not follow the NCOD guidelines. The Site ReviewCriteria calls for designing around significant existing vegetation. This beautiful and healthy spruce is a Bozeman landmark and has been a resident of this town longer than any of us. It deserves our respect and honor for thehard work it has done and is continuing to do for our air quality and lowering temperatures in the summer months which are only going to get hotter! Thesenew buildings do not make allowance for anything life-giving or green to exist. Please use this event to stand up to the kind of development that has no concern for the environmental laws in place nor respect for creatures other than black and whitestructures made of steel and concrete. That you continue to allow these structures to take over our high line and sky views is turning this once quaint and picturesque towninto a sterile abomination of the worst examples of modernity. Look at this image and do the right thing for our community. I am outraged that you would even consider allowing any developer to remove this tree!
