Fischer and Bode- In order to maintain a consistent scope of authority, and an honest, transparent process, please reclaim your review authority over the second Guthrie application. Homebase Partner's newest proposal to demolish a historic structure reads more like an amendment to their original application (which you reviewed last summer) than a new application. It is appropriate that you should again be the reviewing body. Our NCOD design guidelines clearly state on page 10 the following: "What if I want to demolish, or move, a building on my property?... Generally, if the building has been determined to be historically significant, final authority for the demolition or movement shall rest with the City Commission." Please do not abdicate your clear responsibility to our community. The residents/ voters need to be heard. Out-of-state developers are raping and pillaging Montana. Put the brakes on their incessant luxury building. Stop the affordable housing incentives (re- think affordable housing realities) that give these out-of-staters all kinds of gifts at the expense of our neighborhoods. These new full block buildings look like prisons – no design imagination because we don’t seem to require any. Minimum affordable housing units and let’s be real, who would want to live in an affordable housing unit in a building otherwise filled with second home owners (or more) dropping into Bozeman periodically– not year ’round neighbors, just visitors and their short-term rental guests. This is not community! Be realistic about parking – nearly everyone of eligible age in Bozeman has a car. Those looking to live in something like the Guthrie have a car to park. That neighborhood already has tight residential parking. Please review the latest Guthrie application and demand that this building be scaled back. Thank you, Serena Mercer
