Hello, City Commissioners
I urge the city commission to conduct a review and decision of the revised Guthrie
application in a city commission meeting rather than allowing city planning staff to
make the final decision regarding The Guthrie revised application. While I thank the
city commission for conducting the review of the initial Guthrie application in public
during a city commission meeting, in fairness to the public, the review and decision ofthe revised Guthrie project also needs to be conducted in public during a city
commission meeting.
Because I live in an HOA, our covenants provide a level of protection regardingdevelopment within the HOA that most other neighborhoods lack. People who live in
the midtown neighborhood deserve a voice in The Guthrie application especially
since this development proposes an architectural design dissimilar from other
residential development in this area. Unfortunately, city zoning does not provide thelevel of protection that homeowners thought they might have had. Public safety risks
to school children, total community safety, parking and traffic issues, and maintaining
an overall sense of community needs to be carefully considered in this decision.
People who live in the midtown neighborhood know the area best and deserve to be
recognized, heard, and their concerns fully considered. This can only take place in
public at a city commission meeting. Thus, I urge the city commission to take back its
authority and conduct a review and decision of the revised Guthrie application in acity commission meeting.
Thank you.
