Good morning,
Thank you for taking the time to read my comment. I strongly encourage the commissionto reclaim the authority over the decision making process for the Guthrie project. My wife
and I lived 2 doors down from the proposed project and both of our children were born acrossthe street at the Bozeman Birth Center. We chose to live in that neighborhood because of it’s
friendly character, proximity to downtown and schools, and for the lack of traffic. Our kidswere able to play out front, walk to school, and learn to ride bikes without traffic. The
proposed project does not make sense for such a neighborhood. Homebase Partners has talkedabout having these units created for folks that could come here from other places to build new
homes, work in the service industry, and bike to downtown. While these claims are made toseem as they will be doing our community a favor, it appears that it is a stretch to think that
the prices will actually create realistically affordable housing. With a lack of parkingprovided, these streets will quickly fill up with full sized trucks, trailers, and more traffic on a
street with an elementary school. The kids and families that live in this corridor will beinundated with vehicles and traffic which will create safety issues as well as parking troubles.
While infill is a great tool to slow the spread of sprawl, this project does not make sense forthe location. We urge you to reclaim your authority and not leave this important decision to a
singular person behind closed doors.
Cheers,
