Dear Commissioners, Though I would not like a 4-story apartment complex right next door to me - or within 5 or 6houses- I do see the need for this type of growth in our small city. A walkable Bozeman can only happen if people and amenities are within walking distance. I live on southBozeman Avenue and watched the panic and the fear when the Black Olive apartment building was proposed. Now, it is a beautiful, functional building and a great neighborhoodcoffee shop and hang-out spot. Traveling extensively in Europe, I see how the community character and the health of small cities are maintained by the inclusion of 6- to 8-storyapartment complexes within walking distance to the downtown core. These are needed. The town is growing and changing. The real question is how to make them more affordableso that working folks can live and thrive. And yes, taller sometimes is more affordable.
