Dear City of Bozeman Commission Members,
I am writing as a resident and professional member of Bozeman to express my concernsregarding the recent approval of $3.66 million in TIF funding for the Block 104/Bozeman
Yards development. This decision—and its accompanying changes to Aspen Street and IdaAvenue—will forever alter our beloved northeast neighborhood.
The northeast neighborhood is on the rise not because of luxury developments but because ofthe historic charm, arts, and vibrant sense of community that make Bozeman unique.
Moreover, breaking Bozeman’s normal height limit for luxury condos is unnecessary andshortsighted. Other developments in the area, such as the Wild Crumb condos, have already
shown that these units often sit unoccupied, primarily purchased as second homes. In fact, theWild Crumb condos, with less than 10 units, have been on the market for months and still
have not all sold. This clearly demonstrates that there isn’t a true need or demand for suchdevelopments, despite what developers may hope.
Bozeman should be focused on preserving the charm that made it such a destination, notdestroying it.
Thank you for your time,
Maeve Whalen
