Good afternoon,
I am a resident and homeowner in Bozeman. I am sending in this comment
to request that the commission intervene on the Gutherie project. While I am
new to Bozeman, I think this project would be disastrous for many reasons:
Impact on neighborhood (the neighborhood is already burdened with the
city's decision to build the Elm with no parking requirements. Adding
91 units in a small area will make the area impossible to navigate. How
will this affect the ability of residents to obtain emergency services?
Impact on water and sewer systems. Has this been considered?
Taxpayers absolutely will not subsidize Andy's income by having to tear
up roads to increase capacity.
Concerns about the developer. I have lived in one of his buildings and it
was an absolutely terrible situation. That was what they call a "luxury
building"; it wasn't. I can only imagine what this thing will be.
Tearing down historic buildings should be avoided. People don't come to
Bozeman to look at terribly designed mid-level apartment buildings.
They come for the beauty and history. Keep tearing stuff down and you
will look like Big Sky.
People need to trust government which requires transparency. This project
needs to be handled by elected officials and input from all residents needs to
be considered.
Very sincerely,
Vanessa
