Why ask our opinions now? The area and its culture have been so badly impacted that I am afraid it will never recover and return to the special area that it was. Greed & pomposity have that influence usually. For those of us that lived here for decades (not like the City Fathers) and have somehow in all our ignorance managed to keep the area extremely nice, inviting & environmentally sound now must endure: -Traffic that is abominable. Don’t drive down S 19th there is always at least one accident backing up traffic. -Taking advice from out of state people who left their failed states to come advise us on how to make Bozeman better…….right - Must pay higher property taxes, higher (sky rocketing) insurance rates and tally up major loss of rental income because out of state companies that are building too many rental units. Much of the rent leaves the state to out of state entities. -See nature and farmlands being built over in such excess that the area cannot accommodate the influx. Nature is being substantially impacted in a negative way. Not to mention the amount of water, electricity and air quality that is struggling to keep up healthily. -See schools struggle to keep up with the influx of too many people. Liberal Universities should never have been able to let out of state students vote for questionable politicians only to leave after graduation and leave their political messes to be cleaned up by us. -See good wholesome businesses shut down and leave because of too high taxes and insurance. -You know many of us really aren’t into multifamily projects resembling New York City inner cities. Suddenly the view is no longer a concern, and high-rise buildings can build right up to the sidewalk. What we’d like to see is these politically interfering politicians, with no patience or need to follow the norms of the community, get fined to cover the loss of community wellness. These norms are usually considered a strong indication of what folks in the area consider important. If we wanted to live in a big city we would be in the big city . We chose to keep our area clean, healthy and to responsibly teach our children to care for the land, families and give honor to the nature of their God. Whatever made you City Fathers over the last four plus years think that you were given cart blanche to do whatever you wanted. You were only elected representatives for “us” and the community culture. (Not pompous, terrorizing, contrarians) Karen Schunke
