Dear City Commissioners,
We are writing to express our opposition to the Bozeman Yards project as currently proposedby developer Scott Baldasare. The developer is seeking TIF money and, with (count 'em) two
supposedly affordable ($500K apiece) units, use of the city's affordable housing ordinance(shallow incentives) to build an additional 10 feet higher than otherwise allowed. Use of the
affordable housing ordinance would give the developer an administrative review of this luxuryproject that will short circuit public comment about the project, especially its impact on
surrounding neighborhoods. Surely you jest. If you vote for this proposal you are giving anunelected city employee (the community development director) power that the community has
given to you in the hopes that you will put community first. So, what's it is going to be? Community first, or private capital?
