Public comment to:Project 5 Range Site Plan Application 2330620.517 acres 12 residential apartment buildings312 units 3 stories tall My personal experience with 4 Daughters Farm is pure joy.I have gone to the farm to pick the most beautiful variety of flowers, bringing carloads home to fill vases and pitchers throughout the house - filling the space with color and natural beauty grown from Montana soil. I’ve tasted special varieties ofberries that I've never known about or tasted before or anywhere I've travelled. These were the brightest, fresher flavors - with more to follow in the season. Farmer Tom welcomes everyone like a friend he already knows. It is an experience that Icarry home with me, memories with my daughter that I cherish, the lush colors of those flowers, full of sunshine, crisp fresh air, pure water from mountain snow - are burned into my memory. At the farm, the Heriza’s bring everyone together at theend of the season for a harvest feast and fun. 4 Daughters Farm can be found at the Bozeman Farmer’s Market all summer; another example of a community event that brings so many people together over the love of fresh produce, cheese, bakedgoods and more, from local farms, and small businesses owned and operated by local Montana people. Small, independent, family owned farms are part of what makes Montana “The Last Best Place” in America, and in the world. Montana’s spectacular beauty of its mountains, lakes, rivers - and farms - is a place of dreams and aspirations beautyadmired in the world. People come from all over the country and the world to experience the majestic beauty, clean air and pure waters of Montana. The purpose of this letter is to express my concerns about proposed development adjacent to 4 Daughters Farm and itsnegative impact, and to request that the Bozeman City Planning Department carefully reviews the lasting impact this development will have on this area, provides careful studies of the area, including increased traffic, pollution to the land andwater, and the negative impact to the community, before approving this development. 4Daughters Farm is a family owned small farm at 5180 Stucky Rd, Bozeman MT, 59715. This farm - owned by Tom and May Heriza is located adjacent to the proposed development of Project 5 Range of 12, The story apartment buildings, containing312 units. 4Daughters Farm is located on some of the most fertile soil in the valley growing fruits, vegetables, livestock - and exquisitely beautiful flowers. The flower farm is open to anyone who wants to pick their own flowers throughout the season. But4Daughters Farm is more than that. Tom and May, and their daughters have created a community based on their farm that is certainly local but touches the lives of many people outside of Montana. That community is based on beauty and friendshipand a connection to simple, honest, and historical work of farming, a connection to the land and its stewardship. Impact the ability to farm: Project 5 Range development is planned adjacent to 4 Daughters Farm.Project 5 Range development will impact the ability to farm due to run offs that negatively impact the soil and water quality of some of the most fertile soil in the valley.Project 5 Range development will block southern exposure light that will diminish growth each season. This will negatively impact the Heriza’s ability to farm, will diminish their livelihood and diminish the community they have created. Surrounding environment:The proposed site for Project 5 Range is home to groves of trees, providing habitat, respite and shade to wildlife, birds and the farm’s livestock. This development will disrupt and destroy this habitat. Traffic and congestion:Project 5 Range will add at least 500 to 1000 additional cars from this development - with no arterial improvements to the roads. Stuky Road is a two lane road and is not built for high traffic use. There are no shoulder areas between the ditches, already causing cars to end up in the ditches. Bike riders are no longer safe on this road. Traffic and construction will also increase noise pollution in the area. Montana land is worth protecting. Of course, growth and progress is necessary and welcome - but must be done with consideration to the land, its best uses and purpose in the present and with a thoughtful and caring eye - and heart - to the future. And to the individuals who make Montana a very special place. A place where creativity, and entrepreneurship canflourish and thrive, while still protecting the magnificent natural resources of the land and water. These independent entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of Montana. On behalf of myself, and my family, I sincerely request that proper studies are done on the Project 5 Range, and that thefindings are provided to the public, on the impact the development on the area, land and water quality, and especially on the people of this community. Sincerely, Lynette Cvikota 122 Glendale Ave., Hinsdale IL 60521 312-863-0453 l.cvikota@att.net
