I am writing to voice my opposition to the proposed apartment complex, Range 5, located on Stuckey Rd and 19th Ave in Bozeman. My opposition is based on the fact that the complex is inconsistent with the land use goalsprofessed by the city and county for this area. My opposition is also an effort to support the Heriza family and 4Daughters Farm, that is adjacent to the proposed development. First and foremost the Bozeman Area Plan (2025) designates this site for low-intensityresidential, agricultural residential and open space uses. This alone should be enough for the city to deny approval of the apartment complex as it does not meet these criteria. However, there are more reasons the complex should not be approved. These include:1. Gallatin County's commitment to protecting agricultural lands and habitat for wildlife 2. The Growth Policy commitment to protecting viewsheds and open space3. The potential environmental impact of stormwater runoff degrading the adjacent soils 4. The potential safety risks of increased traffic in the area5. The potential for multiple 3 story buildings to block the sunlight necessary to grow their crops A low density residential subdivision would be more consistent with the growth policy planand address all of the above issues. I would urge you to deny the application for the apartment complex on the designated site so that the Heriza family and 4daughters Farm can continue the longstanding agriculturaltradition of the Gallatin Valley. In addition to their commitment to the land and providing nourishment and beauty for their community, they have created a space for the community toconnect and grow, and build relationships amidst the natural beauty of our valley. There is no denying that we need more housing, particularly affordable housing in our valley. However, approving this housing project, for this location, would be short sited, irresponsible, and frankly shameful. Thank you for your consideration. Liesl Pessl
