MBCC Educational Power Hour Dear Subscriber, Join us for this week's Educational Power Hour as we are excited to host Kimberly Much, the Public Safety Communicator Basic Program Manager with the Montana Law Enforcement Academy. On Tuesday, November 19th, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Kim will be presenting on Dispatch 101, helping us understand the positions and perspectives of those working in dispatch. In addition to her role at MLEA, Kim hosts a podcast available on Spotify that explores important topics related to public safety and resilience in the criminal justice system. Kimberly Much is currently serving as the Public Safety Communicator Program Manager and Training Officer for the Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA). She is responsible for the curriculum of the 80-hour Public Safety Communicator Basic course and instructs throughout the program. Kimberly covers several topics, including radio operations, resiliency as a first responder, report writing, and more, in both the Law Enforcement Officer Basic and Corrections and Detention Officer Basic courses. In addition, Kimberly teaches in MLEA’s Professional Program First Line Supervisor Leadership Course. She has developed a Resilience as a First Responder Course, which she teaches in all four basic programs as well as a standalone class offered at the Academy and throughout Montana. Before taking on her current role, Kimberly served as a law enforcement dispatcher with the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) for seven and a half years. During five of those years at MHP, she functioned as a Communications Training Officer, overseeing several tiers of a trainee’s learning process. Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Photography from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography.
