I’m writing to express my concern and dissent over the proposed apartment development near Fowler and Stucky. This is a beautiful agricultural area with homes that are used to enjoying space, less congestion and serenity of the beautiful Gallatin Valley. By continuing to approve development after development, the City is eroding at the very beauty and character that so many people love about this valley and indeed, draws so many people to this valley. But approving every development (I would be interested to know if one has ever been turned down), the City will inevitably and eventually alter the fundamental beauty of this valley. There has to be a balance. I’m not advocating for no growth-that’s not realistic-but slow growth that is sensible and considers the impact these developments have on the families that live in the area is appropriate. Already this area has seen a tremendous increase in traffic and this will only worsen with more development. Moreover, adding 3- story apartment complexes will not fit in, aesthetically, with the surrounding area, and will quite honestly be an eye sore for such a beautiful area. I urge the City to reconsider the priority of their values and decide what is more important here-more money, or preservation of this beautiful valley. I would hope the City is willing to listen to local constituents over wealthy out of state developers. Respectfully submitted, Katie Van Tighem Sent from my iPhone
