Dear Bozeman City Planning Department, I am reaching out to voice concerns about the "Range 5" development proposal (Application 23306), planned for the 20 acres south of 4 Daughters Farm. I understand that growth in our community is inevitable, but this large-scale project may bring unintended challenges that could disrupt both local agriculture and the quality of life for residents. This area is home to productive farmland, which plays a vital role in our community’s character and economy. Developing on this land could introduce risks to water quality, soil health, and crop productivity, all of which are fundamental to sustaining nearby farms. This proposal also includes three-story apartment buildings, which will bring traffic and safety issues along Stucky Rd., a road currently not built to handle such a high influx of vehicles. The presence of established trees and natural habitats is another important consideration. These spaces provide shade and shelter for local wildlife and livestock and contribute to the serene environment that makes this part of the valley unique. Farms like 4 Daughters help to create the welcoming, peaceful atmosphere that so many residents and visitors alike value about Bozeman. Bozeman’s growth is important, but it’s equally crucial to ensure that it complements and respects the needs of our local environment and agricultural areas. I respectfully urge the Planning Department to consider revisions that address these issues, balancing new development with the needs of current residents and the surrounding land. Thank you for considering these concerns. Sincerely, Rachael Basham, a supporter of preserving farmlands and supporting local businesses
