Hi, my name is Mitchell Larsson and I’ve lived in Bozeman almost my entire life. I wanted to write to express
frustration about Bozeman‘s residential development, particularly with application 23306, the Range 5 site.
4 daughters farms is such a lovely piece of south Bozeman, and the Heriza’s have been friends of my family for
many years. Every fall they host a pig roast to celebrate the season, and I get a chance to connect with them and my
family, who visit from their shared hometown in Oregon. It’s a really special place, for myself and our community,
and I’m worried about how the proposed Range 5 site could affect the farm. I understand that Bozeman is growing
and we can’t curb the development forever, but I would implore the planning department to look at this particular
situation with a different lens!!
The Range 5 development would drastically alter the 4 daughter’s ability to farm, and would also jeopardize the
surrounding habitat. There is major concern that any run-off from the development could harm the soil fertility and
water quality. Also, 3 story buildings in such close proximity would certainly change the necessary southern light
exposure and introduce a major amount of noise pollution. In addition, this residential complex would add a
significant amount of traffic to an already congested area without improving arterial roads. Stucky remains a two
lane road with no shoulder, which is already dangerous without the influx in car volume.
For these reasons, and out of simple love for a cherished piece of south Bozeman, I hope that the planning
department would reconsider application 23306. If declining the application is unrealistic, I hope that there can be
some common sense changes made that would lessen the impact Range 5 would have on our friends at 4 Daughter’s
farm!!
Thank you for your time,
Mitchell Larsson
