Community Development Advisory Board members – It is unacceptable that voluntary Heritage Tree Program and UDC-based tree protections are not being considered for the City’s Historic Preservation Policy and Local Landmark Program (HPPLLP). I am writing to request that the City include these protections in the HPPLLP. Trees in Bozeman’s urban forest, such as the Ponderosa pine at the development site of the Main St Hotel (NW corner of N. 5th Ave and Main St) are assets that need to be protected. In semi-arid southwest Montana, mature trees take many years to grow. Replacing mature trees takes many years. The City should not be so dismissive of tree protections. Karen Wiliams
