To Community Development Advisory Board members –
I find it unacceptable that a voluntary Heritage Tree Program and UDC-based tree
protections are not being considered for the City’s Historic Preservation Policy and Local
Landmark Program (HPPLLP). I ask the City to include these two topics in the HPPLLP.
Trees in Bozeman’s urban forest are appreciating assets that need to be protected.
Mature trees, especially those planted by early Bozeman residents, are natural features
that not only connect us to our historic past but help us to realize the importance of
natural features, such as mature trees, for their ability to lower temperatures as much
as 20% from the ambient rising heat we are all facing. They cleanse the air of pollutants
and are so important to the enhancement of our town.
Trees are the unappreciated hard working beings that contribute immensely to our
health and welfare. We, as a City, cannot keep pushing tree protections off and into the
future. Thank you.
Thank you,
BTC
