Dear Community Development Advisory Board members,
Please work to revise the HPPLLP to include the Voluntary Tree Program and UDC based
tree protections. It is well-known that a city with trees is cooler and provides its
residents with many mental health benefits. With the massive developments
encroaching on our lands, maintaining and preserving our heritage trees is even more
important.
I find it unacceptable that a voluntary Heritage Tree Program and UDC-based tree
protections are not being considered for the City’s Historic Preservation Policy and Local
Landmark Program (HPPLLP). I ask the City to include these two topics in the HPPLLP.
Trees in Bozeman’s urban forest are appreciating assets that need to be protected.
Mature trees, especially those planted by early Bozeman residents, are natural features
that connect us to our historic past. We, as a City, cannot keep pushing tree protections
off and into the future.
Thank you,
Alexandra Adams MD, PhD
