Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone I as a concerned citizen am asking bozeman to have stricter rules and penalties with the urban campers now that the supreme court approved it as this current ordinance is not working and money is being thrown away on trash cans while they continue to litter and fill stolen shopping carts with trash. Yes being unhoused is not a crime and a huge problem in bozeman. Please note that not all of the campers and tents are homless people. Some are transients from out of state coming just to camppermentatly and criminals hiding. It's VERY unsanitary and a HUGE safty concern for everyone including children and locals and part of why theres been more crime. The sewage, stolen parts and needles in some places and carts full of trash in our streets and loose dogs is very unsanitary and not safe and continues to be a problem evenwhile our tax dollars go to provide them needle stations for the drug use instead of stopping it and trash service. With the current ordinace the campers just shuffle instead of moving and continue as shown in this article from another urban camper abusing the syatem. Bozeman should look into providing low income options andmore resources to get them back on their feet while at the same time penalizing the bad guys that want to abuse the system if they refuse help they can move out but atleast provide. The fact portland oregon fixed their homeless problem and it continues to increase in both bozeman and missoula where its almost not safe towalk is NOT a good look and has to change. Its time to take action and make stricker guidlines and rules for the urban campers. Bozeman has been IGNORING THIS SITUATION for too long. Instead of wasting money on trash cans to worsen the situation and bird scooters bozeman should be providing more resourses as guystated the homeless shelter is only a temperary fix. The permit option is a good start as long as the penalties stay at 100-500 and mestimeter for the ones that abuse it otherwise more campers from other states and towns are going to continue coming cause bozeman is welcoming them instead of fixing the problem also the money usedfor the permits should go towards resources to get more of these campers off the street and people struggling with mental health and/or addiction the help they need as well as low income options. PLEASE BOZEMAN MAKE THE CHANGE if people don't like it they can move.Taylor.r Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
