It is my opinion the city needs to return to the prior policy that vehicles parked in the public right of way must be moved after 72 hours. Unfortunately, the city's common sense approachwas upended by the judicial system. Now that error has been corrected. In the interim, Bozeman has facilitated and encouraged unsightly, irresponsible campers that do not representthe values we uphold. Despite the city's efforts to clean up their mess, it is a virtual junk yard of vehicles. I ask thecommission and every resident if they would tolerate a situation in front of their home. I suspect not. In fact, I am certain that 90% of residents oppose camping on our streets. We have no obligation to support this supposed form of homelessness when it negativelyimpacts our image. The media wants to portray "sob" stories which I do not buy. A tiny minority should not be allowed to negatively impact our city. A limited permit system is awaste of time and money. It is time to cut the cord and move on. If the commission wants to support free camping, then buy a large piece of land, put up aprivacy fence and put it to the vote of taxpayers. Good luck with that. Mike Layman
