Dear Bozeman City Commission, as a member of the Bozeman Unhoused Union, I strongly urge the City Commission
to vote no on Ordinance 2172. We want to be a part of creating a better ordinance. I have been on the streets of
Bozeman since Janurary of 2023. I was evicted from housing in Big Sky that I had been in for 13 years. I suddenly
needed to find a new place in Gallatin County. I work a part time job, and I can't afford market rate rent in Bozeman.
I couldn't come up with $5,000 to move into a place. I work as a merchandiser at the Town Pump. I'm still giving
plasma for an extra $100 a week. $25 means an extra tank of propane to keep me warm throughout the winter. I
grew up in Georgia, and my hometown was destroyed by the hurricane. I don't have anywhere to go back to, and
this has been my home for 13 years. If the city doesn't allow us to live here, suicide rates will spike. This isn't a way
to treat locals who have lived and worked here, and paid taxes for years. Vote no on 2172.
