Hi there,
My name is Katie Minalga. I have lived in Bozeman my entire life. The negative impact that
the urban camping has had on our community is very obvious to me after being a part of thiscommunity for 36 years. Bozeman changed immediately when this started happening, and not
for the better.
The health and safety and beauty of our city is being tarnished. Locals are struggling to affordhousing but are working extra hard to make ends meet. We deserve better and the focus should
be going to taxpaying citizens. Or the focus should shift to more centers for homeless, not toportable toilets and dumpsters that get destroyed in a day.
The drugs, crime and prostitution that has come with the urban camps is so upsetting and I
can’t understand why the city would allow this. The polls have a clear perspective of how thecitizens feel on this issue, why are we not being listened to? Over 80% of the community
wants this to end, but more and more are being allowed.
For how hard it is to live here, it is way too easy for the urban campers to live for free andmake our city unsafe. It’s time the focus is put back into our community members instead of
the ones not contributing.
The urban campers know that Bozeman is a place that allows this, so more and more willcome. That means more crime, more filth, and more campers. Is that what the city commission
wants?
Please considering banning urban camping in Public areas.
